Prepare to Delete Your Account
- Before deleting your Facebook account, consider downloading a copy of your data. This includes photos, posts, and messages. To do this, navigate to Settings & Privacy > Settings > Your Facebook Information > Download Your Information.
- Ensure that you are logged into the account you wish to delete. Also, verify any linked apps or websites that use Facebook for login. Update those logins to not rely on your Facebook account.
Permanently Delete Your Account
- Go to the Settings & Privacy > Settings > Your Facebook Information > Deactivation and Deletion section.
- Select Delete Account and click Continue to Account Deletion.
- Review any options Facebook offers, such as downloading data or deactivating instead.
- Click Delete Account and enter your password when prompted, then click Continue to finalize the deletion.
Account Deletion Considerations
- After deleting your account, you have 30 days to log back in and cancel the deletion, after which the data is permanently removed.
- If you used Facebook to log into other services, those connections will be broken, possibly affecting access to those services.
- Deleting your account does not delete information of others that you might have interacted with, such as messages you sent to them.
Troubleshooting
- If you experience any issues, ensure you are logged into the correct account and have a stable internet connection.
- For further problems, consult the Facebook Help Center for additional assistance and tips.
