Backing Up Your Data
- Before deleting your account, it's a good idea to download a copy of your LinkedIn data. This includes your connections, messages, and other activities.
- Go to the LinkedIn homepage and click on your profile icon at the top right corner.
- Select "Settings & Privacy" from the dropdown menu.
- Click on the "Data privacy" tab.
- Under "How LinkedIn uses your data," click "Get a copy of your data."
- Select the data files you want to download and click "Request archive."
- LinkedIn will notify you when your data archive is ready to download.
Deleting Your LinkedIn Account
- Navigate to the LinkedIn homepage and click on your profile icon in the top right corner.
- Select "Settings & Privacy" from the dropdown menu.
- Under the "Account preferences" tab, locate the "Account management" section.
- Click on "Close account."
- You will be prompted to provide a reason for closing your account. Choose an option that best describes your reason.
- Click "Next" to continue.
- Enter your LinkedIn account password to confirm your decision.
- Click "Close account" to permanently delete your LinkedIn account.
Considerations After Deletion
- Once your account is deleted, you lose access to all your connections, messages, and recommendations.
- LinkedIn retains some data even after account deletion due to legal and business obligations.
- You have the option to rejoin LinkedIn with the same email address in the future, but you'll need to start from scratch.
