Delete Your Netflix Account
- Log in to your Netflix account using a web browser. Ensure you remember your username and password, as you'll need these to access your account settings.
- Go to the account settings by clicking on the profile icon in the upper right corner. From the dropdown menu, select “Account” to open your account overview.
- Find the “Membership & Billing” section. This section contains the options related to your subscription and payment details.
- Click on “Cancel Membership.” This will begin the process of canceling your Netflix membership.
- Confirm the cancellation by following the on-screen instructions to complete the process. Netflix may ask for the reason for cancellation or offer to pause the membership instead.
Important Considerations
- Ensure that you download any content or use any credits (if applicable) before finalizing the cancellation, as access will be terminated after your billing period ends.
- If you are billed through a third party or have a Netflix bundle, such as through a cable service or another partner, you’ll need to cancel using that specific service provider’s platform.
- After canceling, Netflix retains your viewing preferences and account data for 10 months. You can reactivate your account anytime within that period without losing previous profiles, saved titles, or viewing history.
Additional Steps for Full Account Removal
- If you want to ensure the deletion of data after canceling a subscription, you can email privacy@netflix.com from the email address associated with your account. Request that your account and associated data be fully deleted.
- Include your account’s email address and provide a clear request for complete account deletion. Make sure there are no billable charges pending on your account before proceeding.
- Netflix will confirm the deletion of your account and data within a reasonable time frame. Be sure to verify that you receive a confirmation for your records.
