How to Delete Your Signal Account
- Open the Signal app on your mobile device and go to your profile by tapping your profile icon or name at the top left corner of the screen.
- Once on your profile page, scroll down and tap on "Advanced" or "Account" settings depending on your app version.
- Navigate to the "Delete Account" option. This might be at the bottom of the page or within a subsection labeled for account management.
- Tap "Delete Account," which will prompt a confirmation request.
- Enter your phone number along with the international code as required, which ensures you are the account owner.
- Tap the "Delete Account" button one more time to confirm your decision. This will permanently delete all your messages, media, and account information from Signal.
Important Considerations
- Deleting your Signal account will remove your data from the device, and you will no longer be able to send or receive messages through the app using that account.
- Ensure that you have backed up any important data or messages you wish to retain before deleting your account.
- Unlinking Signal from your phone number is irreversible. If you decide to use Signal again in the future, you will need to create a new account with your phone number.
- If you have Signal Desktop linked to your account, it will stop working once the account is deleted on your mobile device.
