Check the Basics
- Ensure that your AirTag is linked to the correct Apple ID. Verify this by opening the Find My app and checking if the AirTag is listed.
- Check that your iPhone or iPad has Bluetooth and Location Services enabled: Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services, and ensure it is toggled on.
Update and Restart Devices
- Confirm you are using the latest version of iOS or iPadOS on your device. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check for updates.
- Restart both your iPhone or iPad and the AirTag. For AirTag, simply remove the battery and reinsert it.
Move to a Better Location
- If the AirTag is in an area with poor signal or obstructed by metal or thick walls, try bringing it to an open space. This may improve communication with nearby iOS devices.
Test with Another Device
- Use another iPhone or iPad with your Apple ID to see if it tracks the AirTag’s location accurately. This can isolate the issue to one device if the AirTag responds correctly on another.
Reset Your Location Settings
- If location services are troublesome, try resetting the location settings: Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Location & Privacy. Be aware that you may need to reconfigure location-based app settings afterward.
Contact Apple Support
- If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it may be a hardware problem with the AirTag. Contact Apple Support for further assistance or consider visiting an Apple Store.
