Prepare for the Update
- Visit the official BlackVue website to download the latest firmware for your specific device model.
- Look for the 'Support' or 'Downloads' section on their website. Enter your camera model number if prompted to locate the relevant firmware files.
- Once located, download the firmware to your computer. Ensure you download the correct version to avoid compatibility issues.
Format the SD Card
- To ensure the update runs smoothly, it is recommended to format your SD card. This erases all recorded data on the card, so back up any important footage first.
- You can format the card using your computer or through the camera itself. Insert the card into your BlackVue camera and use the app or on-screen menu controls to format it.
Update the Firmware
- After formatting, insert the SD card into your computer’s SD card slot or use an SD card adapter.
- Copy the downloaded firmware files onto the root of the SD card. Do not place them in any folder.
- Safely eject the SD card from the computer and insert it back into your BlackVue camera.
- Power on the camera. It should automatically detect the new firmware on the SD card and initiate the update process. This might take a few minutes.
- The camera will prompt you or indicate via a voice alert or LED signals when the update is complete. Follow any additional instructions given by the device.
Troubleshoot Common Problems
- If the camera doesn’t recognize the firmware, check that the files were placed correctly and that they are the correct version for your model.
- Ensure the SD card is not corrupted. Try reformatting it again or using a different card if the problem persists.
- If the update fails, reset the camera to its factory settings by consulting the manual for reset instructions, then try the update process once more.
- For continual issues, consult the BlackVue support team for assistance, as they can provide additional troubleshooting steps or diagnostics.
