Check Current Firmware Version
- Firstly, ensure your GoPro Max is adequately charged or connected to a power source.
- Power on your GoPro Max camera.
- Swipe down on the screen to access the dashboard, then tap on Preferences.
- Scroll to About and select it to check your current firmware version.
Download the GoPro App
- Make sure your smartphone has the GoPro app installed. You can download it from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Open the GoPro app.
- If not yet connected, pair your GoPro Max with your smartphone via Bluetooth.
Connect and Update Firmware
- Launch the GoPro app and connect to your camera.
- If a new firmware update is available, the app will notify you and provide instructions. Follow the on-screen prompts to start updating the firmware.
- Keep the device running and avoid interruption until the update process is complete.
Update Using a MicroSD Card
- Visit the GoPro website and navigate to the Support section to download the firmware update. Make sure you select the correct model, GoPro Max.
- Extract the downloaded update files to a temporary location on your computer.
- Insert a microSD card into your computer and format it to ensure it's empty.
- Copy the extracted files directly onto the root directory of the microSD card.
- Insert the microSD card into your GoPro Max and power it on. The camera will recognize the update files and start the update process.
- Do not turn off the camera until the update is finished. The camera will turn off automatically after the update.
Troubleshooting Firmware Update Issues
- If the firmware update doesn't start, ensure the battery is charged or connect the camera to a power source.
- Check your internet connection. A stable connection is crucial for the update process when using the GoPro app.
- Verify that the update files are correctly placed in the root directory of your microSD card if updating manually.
- If the camera is stuck during the update, remove and reinsert the battery and try restarting the update process.
- Contact GoPro customer support if the problem persists.
