Change Default Music Service on Amazon Echo
- Open the Amazon Alexa App: To begin, make sure you have the Alexa app installed on your smartphone or tablet. Open the app and ensure you are logged in with the same Amazon account that is linked to your Echo device.
- Go to the Settings Menu: Once the app is open, look for the menu icon, which typically appears as three horizontal lines, usually residing in the top left corner. Tap on it to access the main menu and choose the "Settings" option.
- Select Music & Podcasts: In the Settings menu, scroll down until you find the "Music & Podcasts" option. Tap on it to open the list of music services linked to your Amazon account.
- Tap on Default Services: Within the "Music & Podcasts" settings, there is an option labeled "Default Services." This section allows you to set your preferred music provider as the default for music requests on your Echo device.
- Choose Your Preferred Service: Here, you’ll see available music services like Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music, and others you’ve linked. Tap on the service you wish to make the default for each category (i.e., Music Library, Artists and Songs, and Station). This ensures Alexa uses this service for your voice commands.
- Save your Changes: After selecting your preferred default music service for each category, go back or exit the app. Your changes are automatically saved, and your Echo device will now use the new default music service for your requests.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Ensure Account Linking: Make sure your chosen music service is properly linked to your Amazon Alexa account. You can check this in the "Manage Services" section in the "Music & Podcasts" settings.
- Check Subscription Status: Verify that you have an active subscription to the music service you want to set as the default. Some services require a premium account for integration.
- Update the App: If you encounter any issues during this process, ensure you have the latest version of the Alexa app installed and that your Echo device firmware is up-to-date.
- Restart Devices: Sometimes, simply restarting your Echo device or smartphone can resolve any residual issues with service settings.
