Create an Amazon Echo Sunrise Routine
- Open the Alexa app on your smartphone. Ensure your Amazon Echo device is properly connected and operational.
- Navigate to the "More" section, located in the lower menu bar of the app.
- Select "Routines" from the list of options. This will take you to the screen where you can create, view, and manage your routines.
- Tap the "+" icon to start creating a new routine. You will be prompted to choose triggers and actions for your routine.
- Name your routine something like "Sunrise Routine" to easily recognize it later.
Set the Trigger for Sunrise
- Choose "When this happens" and opt for "Schedule". This will allow you to set a specific time for your routine to start.
- Select "At Sunrise". This will automatically adjust the routine to begin at sunrise based on your geographical location.
- Verify your location settings within the Alexa app to ensure the sunrise time reflects your local time. You can also adjust the timing to start before or after the actual sunrise time if desired.
Define the Actions for Your Routine
- Select "Add action" to specify what should occur when the routine is triggered.
- Choose "Device Settings" to configure your Echo device to execute actions such as turning on a smart light that mimics sunlight, which can help wake you up gradually.
- Add other actions like playing your favorite morning playlist, reading the daily news briefing, or updating you on the weather.
- Continue to add desired actions. Be sure to review the order, as actions are performed sequentially.
Finalize and Save Your Routine
- Once you’ve added all the necessary actions, tap "Save" to finalize your sunrise routine.
- Test your routine by manually activating it to ensure all actions run smoothly. Tweak any settings or the order of actions as needed for optimal performance.
