Access the Ecobee Thermostat
- Go to your Ecobee thermostat directly and tap the screen. Alternatively, you can access it through the Ecobee app on your smartphone or tablet.
Navigate to the Settings Menu
- On the thermostat or app, look for the "Menu" option. This is usually represented by three horizontal lines or a gear symbol.
- Select "Settings" from the menu options available.
Select Fan Settings
- Within "Settings," search for the "Fan" option. Selecting this will allow you to make customizations related to your fan.
Adjust Fan Speed
- Look for options related to fan speed. This can include choosing between "Low," "Medium," "High," or "Automatic" settings depending on your specific Ecobee model.
- Select the desired fan speed that suits your comfort and efficiency preferences. "Automatic" might be ideal if you want the fan to adjust based on the heating or cooling demand.
Set Fan Runtime
- Beyond speed, you can also set how long the fan runs per hour when the system is not actively heating or cooling. This is usually labeled as "Fan Runtime" or "Circulation Time."
- Adjust the fan runtime to help with air circulation even when the air conditioner or heater isn't actively running. This setting is typically adjustable in increments (e.g., 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes per hour).
Confirm and Save Settings
- After making the desired changes, ensure you save or confirm the settings to apply them. There might be a "Save" button or the settings could automatically be applied when you exit the menu.
Use the App for Remote Adjustments
- If you're using the Ecobee mobile app, make sure it's updated to the latest version for the best functionality and new features.
- The app allows you to adjust fan settings remotely, so use this feature if you're away from the thermostat and need to make changes.
Troubleshoot Issues
- If your fan speed settings aren't working as expected, double-check that your thermostat firmware is up to date. Updates might resolve existing bugs or issues.
- Ensure the HVAC system's fan settings correlate with your thermostat's settings. Sometimes, the equipment itself might need adjustments or repairs.
- If problems persist, consider reaching out to Ecobee's customer support or consulting an HVAC professional for further assistance.
