Enable Bedtime Automation on Samsung SmartThings
- Open the SmartThings app on your smartphone. It's available on both Android and iOS, so make sure you have it installed and up to date.
- In the app, tap the “Automation” tab at the bottom of the screen. This is where you can manage various automations for your smart home.
- Look for a plus sign (+) or “Add Automation” button and tap it. This will allow you to create a new automation.
- Select “Custom Automation.” This option lets you set parameters for what you want to trigger during bedtime.
- You'll need to set a Condition. In this case, choose the “Time” option since you want the automation to trigger at bedtime.
- Set the specific time you want the automation to start. This could be a fixed time like 10:00 PM or a particular event, such as sunset.
- Tap "Done" or "Next," which will lead you to Action settings. Here, specify what devices or scenes to control during bedtime (e.g., dimming lights, adjusting the thermostat, or locking doors).
- For each device you want to control, set the desired state (e.g., turn off or set brightness level). You can add multiple actions if needed.
- Save the automation by tapping "Done" or "Save." Ensure it's enabled so that it will activate at the specified time.
Troubleshooting and Optimization
- If the automation is not working, ensure all devices are connected to the SmartThings hub and functioning correctly. Check device status in the app.
- Verify that your mobile device and hub are connected to the internet. Both need a stable connection for the automation to work reliably.
- Review the automation details to ensure no conflicts with other automations or settings. Re-check the time and actions set.
- Update the SmartThings app and firmware of your smart devices to incorporate any recent fixes or performance enhancements.
