Prerequisites for Linking
- Ensure your Google Nest Cam and Nest Hub are set up and connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Both devices should be properly configured and powered on.
- Install the Google Home app on your smartphone or tablet. This app will be your primary tool for linking the devices.
Using the Google Home App
- Open the Google Home app on your smartphone or tablet. If you don't have an account, create one and sign in.
- Tap on the "+" icon in the top-left corner of the app to add a new device.
- Select "Set up device" from the menu options.
- Choose "New devices" to let the app search for the Google Nest Cam if it hasn't been added yet.
- Follow the prompts to add the camera to your account and assign it to a room in your Google Home setup.
Linking to Nest Hub Display
- In the Google Home app, ensure that both the Nest Cam and Nest Hub are visible on your device list.
- Check the camera's live feed by selecting the camera in the app. This ensures it's streaming correctly.
- Once verified, you can give voice commands to your Nest Hub to view the camera stream. For example, say "Hey Google, show [camera name] on [display name]" to view the feed.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
- If your Nest Cam doesn't appear in the app, double-check that it's properly connected to Wi-Fi and restart the device. Also, ensure your smartphone is connected to the same network.
- If the feed doesn't show on the Nest Hub, make sure the command is correctly phrased and the display's name matches what you've set in the Google Home app.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues by rebooting your router and ensuring both devices have the latest firmware updates installed.
