Change the Room Name in Google Home App
- Open the Google Home app on your mobile device. This app is available for both Android and iOS devices.
- Once you are in the app, ensure you are logged into your Google account and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Google Nest Hub.
- On the main screen, locate and tap on the Nest Hub device by its current room name.
- Tap the settings icon in the top-right corner of the screen, usually depicted by a gear symbol.
- Scroll down, and you will find an option labeled Room. Tap on it to open room selection.
- From here, you have the option to select a different existing room name or create a new one by tapping Add custom room at the bottom of the list.
- If creating a new room, enter the desired room name in the dialog box and confirm your choice.
- Once you've made your selection or created a new room, tap Save or Done to confirm the change.
Verify Your Changes
- Return to the main screen of the Google Home app.
- Check to make sure that your Google Nest Hub is now listed under the new room name you selected or created.
- Test voice commands by referring to the new room name, if applicable, to ensure everything is working as expected.
Troubleshooting Tips
- If the app is not letting you change the room name, make sure your app is updated to the latest version. You can check for updates on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Ensure that your Google Nest Hub and mobile device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Sometimes restarting your device or the Google Home app can resolve issues with setting changes not being saved.
- If you're unable to rename the room via the app, consider resetting the Google Nest Hub and adding it again in the app to start fresh with all settings.
