Set Up Your Roomba i7
- Ensure your Roomba i7 is fully charged and installed with the latest firmware update. This ensures optimal performance of all its features.
- Connect your Roomba i7 to Wi-Fi using the iRobot Home App. Make sure your smartphone is connected to a 2.4 GHz network, as Roomba often has trouble connecting to 5 GHz networks.
Create a Smart Map
- Run your Roomba through a complete cleaning cycle so it can map your home. The iRobot Home App will capture the layout of your entire house.
- Once the cleaning is complete, the app will prompt you to review and edit the smart map it has created. You’ll have the opportunity to label rooms and adjust spaces as necessary.
Set Cleaning Zones
- Open the iRobot Home App and select your Roomba i7. Navigate to the smart map section to edit or view the map.
- Select a room or area on the map to designate as a cleaning zone. You can tap and drag to draw boundaries around specific areas like under the dining table or along a high-traffic hallway.
- Name each zone for easy identification later. Descriptive names like "Kitchen Area" or "Living Room Couch" are helpful.
- Save your changes once all desired cleaning zones are set. Ensure each zone is properly marked, as this will affect how Roomba navigates and cleans these spaces.
Schedule Cleanings in Defined Zones
- From the iRobot Home App main menu, navigate to scheduling options. Here you can set specific times for Roomba to clean each zone.
- Select the zones you wish to include in each scheduled cleaning session. You can choose multiple zones or just one, depending on your cleaning needs.
- Set a time and frequency for each zone. For high-traffic areas, you might choose daily cleanings, while less-used spaces might only need weekly attention.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
- If your Roomba isn't cleaning designated zones, ensure it's connected to Wi-Fi and the map isn't outdated. Sometimes a quick restart of both the device and app can resolve these problems.
- If zones are not being recognized, double-check the boundaries in the smart map. Adjust boundaries as needed to ensure your Roomba can access all areas.
- Ensure that there are no obstacles or closed doors preventing the Roomba from reaching certain zones. Keep pathways clear for efficient cleaning.
