What is a Temporary Hold on Ecobee Schedule?
- A temporary hold on an Ecobee thermostat schedule allows you to manually set a new temperature that will be maintained until the next scheduled activity in your programming kicks in.
- This feature is useful when you want to quickly adjust the temperature without changing your preset schedule permanently.
How to Set a Temporary Hold
- Tap the temperature on the thermostat's home screen. You will see an increase and decrease option for modifying the current temperature.
- Adjust the temperature to what you prefer. Once you set a new temperature, a temporary hold is automatically activated.
- The hold will generally last until the next scheduled event. You can see the hold status and duration on the main screen.
Using the Ecobee App
- Open the Ecobee app on your smartphone or tablet.
- Navigate to the home screen where the current temperature is displayed.
- Adjust the temperature using the '+' or '-' icons. This will automatically set a temporary hold, just like on the physical thermostat.
- You can see the hold information and the time until the next schedule change right in the app.
Customizing the Hold Duration
- By default, a temporary hold will last until the next scheduled temperature change. However, you can customize how long the hold lasts.
- To change the end time, access the settings from either the thermostat or the app and select 'Holds' in the menu. Here, you can adjust the settings to maintain your chosen temperature until a specific time.
Releasing a Temporary Hold
- You can cancel a temporary hold at any time by selecting 'cancel' on the screen, either on the thermostat or in the app.
- Once canceled, the thermostat will revert back to the programmed schedule immediately.
Why Use a Temporary Hold?
- It provides flexibility and convenience without disrupting your carefully planned schedule.
- Great for unexpected events like guests visiting or a sudden change in weather conditions.
